When your child is screaming in pain holding his ears, you’d do just about anything to make the pain go away. My toddler son had his first screaming earache episode and I was so happy to have something on-hand to give him right away.

Fortunately, I had bought some earache oil online from Uriel Pharmacy and I had my homeopathic Hyland’s Kid’s Kit which instructed me to give him Ferrum Phos. (I rely on this kit for so many ailments.)
I made a warm onion compress to put on his ear by putting some chopped onion in a small, thin wash cloth and poured boiling water over it (of course I let it cool before placing it on his ear.) It took a while, maybe 15 minutes for his screaming to subside, all the while I was wishing I had something that would have worked faster.
When I was finally able to look on the internet for a quick natural home remedy, I found this great article that tells you how to make onion infused oil, garlic infused oil and cinnamon oil which is supposed to immediately relieve the pain. It also mentions colloidal silver, essential oils and lymphatic drainage as easy remedies.
I made the garlic infused oil by using a garlic crusher, crushing a piece of garlic right into a bowl of olive oil. I siphoned up a few drops into a spare eye dropper that I happened to have and held it in my hand to warm in up. (It’s very important to warm the oil. A drop of cold oil inside the ear can be painful.) I did the same with onion, crushing it with the garlic crusher. I put a few drops of each in his ear, massaged around his ear with the garlic oil and very quickly, he quieted down for the rest of the night. It was a relief to MY ears to hear him resting so peacefully. And it is so great to know that I can quickly relieve earache pain with foods that I almost always have in my kitchen.
